The Footy is...
... a small radio-control sailboat whose length is12 inches (30.5 cm or 305mm). The hull can be made in fiberglass from a mold or simply with thin sheets of plywood or Balsa wood fitted together. A simle two-channel 75 MHz r/c radio system can be used, Usually with two servos, one to control the sail and one for the rudder. Some plans are available for sale, some for free. The rig can be built from aluminum or carbon arrow shafting, aluminum tube, wood dowel, or whatever. Sails can be made from plastic shopping bags, mylar drafting film, Tyvek, or whatever. Use your imagination to come up with something new!
The design and construction was originally made so that your 'average Cub Scout" could built one with a little help from an adult, and inexpensively enough so that even Mom will be happy to fund the project.
